Good Morning Sargent Community!

We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!  It's certainly starting to feel like spring is in the air!  This week is a busy one at Sargent with author visits on Thursday and Friday, and our Dining for Dollars night at Bertucci's of North Andover.  We're also gearing up for the Spring Book Fair, which is next week!  Please see below for details on these events, as well as how to order your 2018-2019 Sargent yearbook, our first annual STEAM social coming up in April, and a tee shirt fundraiser to benefit Boston Children's Hospital!

Sargent Author Visits (This Week!) March 21st and 22nd
This year, Sargent is trying a new format for our author visits! Students will work with the authors in small group settings.  Grades 3-5 will be having writing workshops where the students will be doing their own writing. Grades 1 and 2 will be having workshops that really examine the writing process based on presentations from the author.  The two authors that will be coming to Sargent are Brian Lies (www.brian-lies.squarespace.com) and Melissa Stewart (www.melissa-stewart.com).  We are so excited to have them both!

The PTO will host a Dining for Dollars night at Bertucci's North Andover this Thursday, March 21st!  Come have dinner (or lunch!) with family and friends and 25% of your bill will go back to Sargent!
Please bring this flyer when you dine that evening.
The fundraiser can also be applied to take-out that day or night!

2018-2019 Sargent Yearbook- Now On Sale!
The Sargent School yearbook is a wonderful keepsake for students in all grades! In the yearbook, each grade is represented on a class collage page with candid pictures and individual portraits. Our parent volunteers have been busy taking photos at the holiday parties and have put together a special page for each classroom! Also featured are pictures from the "specials" (gym, music, and art class), the Fun Run, RAISE assemblies, Enrichment Council activities, and many candids of the kids throughout the school!

Do not miss this opportunity to purchase a yearbook!  We do recommend purchasing one yearbook per student as the kids often want their own book to have friends sign at the end of the year.

To order just follow these steps:
If you have any questions about ordering your yearbook please contact Melanie Foley at sargentyearbook1@gmail.com

Tee-Shirt Fundraiser for Boston Children's Hospital Sargent School would once again like to lend support to one of our teachers, Mrs. Shannon Clough. Mrs. Clough's son, Ryan, is a patient at Boston Children's Hospital. For the past four years, this being the 5th, Ryan has had patient partners that run the Boston Marathon in his honor. These patient partners are raising money to support Boston Children's Hospital with the Credit Union Kids @ Heart Team. In an effort to help raise donations, Mrs. Clough has created a special tee shirt and long sleeve shirt for purchase. A portion of the proceeds from these shirts will go directly to the fundraising efforts. Please take a moment to look at the following website to select and purchase your tee! https://www.bonfire.com/credit-union-kids-heart/

Understanding Our Differences
We need volunteers for more Understanding Our Differences workshops in the coming months! Please help us continue this program in North Andover. Without volunteers, the Understanding our Differences program for grades 3-5 would not be possible.  UOD reinforces our RAISE values, increases tolerance, reduces bullying and fosters respect, acceptance and compassion for people of all abilities. The curriculum covers autism, physical disabilities, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, and chronic medical conditions such as allergies, asthma, diabetes, and epilepsy. Detailed information on each unit will be sent to parents of 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students prior to the day of the event and is also available on the UOD website.

The UOD program is presented by parent volunteers, and volunteers are needed at all North Andover schools! This is an excellent opportunity to share time in the classroom with your own child or to get to know other parents and students, and it encourages friendship and empathy for people with disabilities in our community. You can volunteer at ANY school in town- it does not have to be the school your child attends! Questions and additional information regarding volunteering for UOD can be directed to UODofNA@gmail.com. No experience with disabilities is necessary! All training takes place online and can be completed in under twenty minutes. If you can help, please click here and add your name to any of the program(s) this spring. Thank you so much for your support of this exciting program!

The PTO was so excited to be able to purchase 25 new Chromebooks for student use in Sargent's new computer lab!  It's so wonderful to see how the Sargent community's hard work in fundraising throughout the school year benefits
our school and students! Read all about the new lab by clicking here!

Attention: 5th Grade Families!
