Sargent's Spring Book Fair is Coming Soon!

The Scholastic Book Fair will run from March 23rd to March 27th.

As always, volunteers are needed to help our fair run smoothly!

The PTO will be hosting Curious Creatures on Wednesday 3/25 during book fair open hours. Curious Creatures is New England's original interactive and educational ​live animal program!  This is a free event for all families from 6:00 to 6:40 pm! 
Book fair is open this day after school this day to 8:00 pm.

Upcoming North Andover Schools Enrichment Council (NASEC) Show at Sargent

Grade 4: Tuesday, 3/17

In the music room, the Sargent elementary 4th grade classes will attend ArtQuest, an exploration of 18th works of art from different geographical areas in the U.S.  Students analyze images for location and historical context. Each region brings with it discussions about its unique history, environment, geography, industry and lifestyles. Featured artists include George Inness, Martin Johnson Heade, Grant Wood, Thomas Hart Benton, John Stuart Curry, Albert Bierstadt, and Georgia O’Keefe.  

The 2019-2020 Sargent yearbook is now on sale!
The Sargent School yearbook is a wonderful keepsake for students in all grades! In the yearbook, every grade is represented on a class collage page with candid pictures and individual portraits. Our parent volunteers have been busy taking photos at each classroom holiday party and have put together a special page for each class!  There will also be pictures from the "specials" 
(gym, music, and art), the Fun Run, RAISE assemblies, Enrichment Council activities, and many candids 
of the kids throughout the school!

Do not miss this opportunity to purchase a yearbook!  We do recommend purchasing one book per student, as each child likes to have their own for friends to sign at the end of the year.

Understanding Our Differences
UOD reinforces our RAISE values, increases tolerance, reduces bullying and fosters respect, acceptance and compassion for people of all abilities.  The curriculum covers autism, physical disabilities, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, and chronic medical conditions such as allergies, asthma, diabetes, and epilepsy.  Detailed information on each unit will be sent to parents of 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students prior to the day of the event and is also available on the UOD website.

The UOD program is presented by parent volunteers, and volunteers are needed at all North Andover schools! This is an excellent opportunity to share time in the classroom with your own child or to get to know other parents and students, and it encourages friendship and empathy for people with disabilities in our community.   You can volunteer at ANY school in town- it does not have to be the school your child attends!  Questions and additional information regarding volunteering for UOD can be directed to UODofNA@gmail.com.  No experience with disabilities is necessary! Games of the Knights (Town Wide Event) Sunday, March 29th
Atkinson PTO presents …The Games of the Knights (special guardian/student event for grades K - 5) located at the NA High School field house on Sunday, March 29th. The day is filled with team-building activities and games.  The games are run by the elementary PE teachers as well as Michelle from "Get Youth Moving". The event concludes with exciting raffles and a special treat. The Games of the Knights is set in two different sessions by grade: 

1st Session - Grades K through 2nd  - 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm 
2nd Session - Grades 3rd through 5th - 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm.  

TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW! Tickets cost $30.00 per couple, $15.00 per additional child.

Sargent Lost and Found
Please remember to check Sargent's Lost and Found, which is located just outside of our cafeteria.  Missing something?  Email Brenda at brkrafft@gmail.com and she will keep an eye out for you.  Trying on those boots from last year soon?  As you start pulling out your family's winter gear, check that everything has a name on it.  If we can identify an owner, we can return it to you.


The PTO is a great way to get involved at Sargent. Whether you have 5 minutes or 5 hours, there is something for everyone! For questions, interest, or additional information, please e-mail sargentpto.communications@gmail.com.

Please remember, if you are volunteering at the school (room parents, classroom parties, library, FUN RUN, etc) 

your CORI needs to be completed prior to your coming to the school.  Please download and fill out the form, 

and return it in person to the main office at Sargent.  CORIs need to updated every 3 years!

Additional Information to Note:

Registration for 2020 NABC Softball is now open!

Grades 1-8 Register for the softball season here.  
Be sure to register by March 15 to avoid late fees!

Indoor clinics will again be held this year, but girls MUST be registered in order to participate. For girls in grades 5-8, an evaluation of skills will be held in March (day TBA), from 1:00-4:00 pm at NAHS. Reminders and specific times will be sent only to those registered. If you miss the e-mail, check with us for specific information about time.

Please register soon to take full advantage of pitching, batting, and fielding clinics which will 
be held in February and March!

Sargent School Drop Off/Pick Up Procedure 
Our main goal is to safely and efficiently welcome and dismiss all of our students daily. Thank you all in advance for your efforts.  Please click here to view the map.

Drop Off 
  • Please use Johnson Street (not Abbot St.) to enter and exit the school. There is NO entering or exiting from Abbott Street between 8:00 - 8:30 am. 
  • Drop off time begins at 8:10 am. Please do not drop students off before 8:10 AM as there is no supervision before that time. 
  • Pull your car all the way up as far as you can go before dropping your child. 
  • DO NOT PASS cars in line at drop off. Please wait until the car in front of you moves forward 
  • Students should exit from the passenger side only. 
  • Please note there is NO parking on Abbott Street at any time. 
  • There is no parking in handicap spots. 
Pick Up 
  • Please use Johnson Street (not Abbott St.) to enter and exit the school. There is NO entering or exiting from Abbott Street between 2:35 - 3:10 pm. 
  • All cars must have a Sargent issued name placard visible. If you do not have one you will be asked to park and enter the building to sign out your child with identification. If you need a placard please contact the school secretary and one will be provided to you. 
  • Students will enter cars from the sidewalk and enter cars on the passenger side only. 
  • DO NOT PASS cars in line at drop off. Please wait until the car in front of you moves forward. 
  • Please note there is NO parking on Abbott Street at any time.

North Andover Schools Enrichment Council 
NORTH ANDOVER SCHOOLS ENRICHMENT COUNCIL is a volunteer-run, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Founded in 1986, their mission is to support, strengthen and enrich the North Andover school curriculum by providing in-school cultural and educational programs in the Sciences and Humanities.  North Andover Schools Enrichment Council (NASEC) is supported by North Andover PTOs, grants, and generous private donations.  It is comprised of representatives from each of the five elementary schools and the middle school.  Our Sargent Elementary NASEC representatives are Lisa Meldrim and Maureen McLean. To find out more information about NASEC, visit their website or check them out on Facebook too!  Please click here for the list of NASEC shows at Sargent this school year!

Boxtops has moved to a digital platform! Box Tops is changing to fit today's families. Stop and Shop A+ School Rewards
Thank you to those who registered their Stop and Shop Cards and participated in this program for the 2018-2019 school year! We earned $2106.15!! This is terrific! This program is now up and running for the 2019-2020 school year! CURRENT supporters DO NOT need to re-register their Stop & Shop Card in September. NEW supporters DO need to register their Stop & Shop Card via their personal online account.

New Supporters or Existing Supporters Wishing to Make Changes: Visit stopandshop.com and select SIGN IN at the top right to log into your online account. Once logged in, select MY ACCOUNT, MANAGE MY ACCOUNT, then REWARDS & SAVINGS to select your school. If you do not have an online account, visit stopandshop.com and click REGISTER. Follow the prompts to create your online account. Once logged in, follow the instructions listed above. Bay State Textile Bin 
Are you in the process of a back-to-school closet clean out?  There is a white Bay State Textile bin located in the Sargent parking lot to collect household items that may otherwise be discarded, lugged to another bin, or put out on the curb. Please consider donating your items into this bin!  The contributions are weighed and Bay State Textiles sends a rebate check monthly to the school based on the weight of the donation.  Help support our school while also cleaning house! Click here for more information on Bay State Textiles.  Their flyer for North Andover schools can be found here.

North Andover Food Rescue 
The Food Rescue is up and running!  They have added the new ABECC to their rotation, meaning they now rescue food at every public school in North Andover!  They could really use your help!  The North Andover Food Rescue is looking for volunteers to help collect and distribute uneaten, unopened food from the Sargent cafeteria- a shift of only 20 minutes can make a huge difference for many people in our community!  To read more about the Food Rescue and how it works, click here.  You can also visit their website.  If you have any questions, please e-mail Kristi Hale and Jess Belongia at nafoodrescue@gmail.com.  Thank you for your continued support!

North Andover Foundation for Education
The purpose of the North Andover Foundation for Education (NAFE) is to provide the public schools of North Andover with the resources necessary to enhance curriculum, programs, and services beyond those that are supported in the annual budget.  It is the goal of the foundation is to provide additional educational opportunities for students and teachers to support the North Andover Public Schools in cultivating a community of engaged learners, insightful thinkers, and effective communicators.
